Public Star Party at Mendon Ponds Park Friday, 10/9 CANCELLED DUE TO RAIN!

Our seventh star party of the year moves back to the East side of town at Mendon Ponds Park.

Star parties are just an open invitation to look through telescopes provided by astronomy club members. Depending on conditions, we'll see a variety of objects including star clusters, gaseous nebulae, and other galaxies. Be sure to dress for cool weather as nights often are cold and grass can be wet with dew, so wear waterproof shoes just in case.

We'll cancel if not at least partially clear. Call cell phone 703-9876 starting a half hour before the start time if you're in doubt.

Directions: 

In Mendon Ponds Park, on Hopkins Point Road near the scout camping area.

To get there from Rochester, take Rt 65 South (Clover Street). About a half mile after passing over the NYS Thruway, take the first left into the park Canfield Road. Go about 3/4 of a mile and take a right on Hopkins Point Road. We'll be about 1/4 on the right. Park right along the right shoulder of the road.

Watch for "Public Star Party" signs to guide you at the turns off Rt 65 and on Canfield. See you there!
