Our meeting officially begins at 7:30 PM, but we have a few snacks and soft drinks starting at 7. Stop in early and socialize. A great time to meet members, chat about astronomy and equipment, etc.
Speakers: We will have two mini-talks that evening - one by ASRAS member Joel Schmid on the Astronomy Section Members website and another by Strasenburgh Planetarium Director Steve Fentress on the greenhouse effect. Our main speaker for the evening is Dr. Jason Nordhaus, from RIT Center for Computational Relativity and Gravitation, giving a presentation entitled "Nature's Great Explosions: An Introduction to Supernovae". Hope to See you there!
After the meeting, many members go out to Applebee's on West Henrietta Road for some late night food and conversation. All are welcome to join in.
See the "more info" link.
At RIT, take the outer loop road all the way around the back of the campus to parking lot "U". Park there, walk to the school end of the lot and then left past the bus stop. Gosnell building is the one straight past the bus stop; has a little "control tower" looking structure on top. Go in the first floor door; we're in the first room on the right. See you there!
