Location:
Farash Center for Observational Astronomy in Ionia, NY
Date/Time:
09/03/2010 - 7:30pm - 10:00pm
Important: Location is our Ionia, NY observatory, NOT RIT!
This is our last meeting at our summer location, our observatory grounds in Ionia NY, about 5 miles south of Mendon, just off Rt 64. We strongly suggest newcomers to come to this meeting and see our great facilities there! Come a bit early, meet a bunch of club members, take a look at all 5 of our observatories, and share some snacks on the deck before the meeting. These summer meetings are less formal, and once you see our equipment out there, you'll want to come back!
We return to RIT for the colder months soon, so last chance!
This month's meeting is all about the observatories at the Site. Our speaker for the evening will be Bob McGovern talking about the new equipment in the Farash Observatory (big dome), the Tinsley Restoration project, and updates on the little dome.
Before and after the meeting the Farash Observatory group and the Tinsley Restoration team will be showing members how to use the
telescopes. Please come early to see the observatories before dusk
and stay afterwards to do a little observing, weather permitting of course.
Come early at 7 for a hot dog and snacks on the deck. And plan to stay late if you can, because if clear we'll be observing in club telescopes following the meeting.
